Getting Around Cancun: Our 7-Day Experience

During our 7 days in Cancun, my friend and I found a cheaper way to go sightseeing. We hired an Uber driver at a fixed price, which surprisingly turned out cheaper than regular tours. Despite the language barrier, we managed just fine with our limited Spanish and his basic English – it was quite the experience! Renting a car is another solid option; the roads in Yucatan are well-paved and safe. For organized tours, we learned booking online is a bit cheaper than buying from the tour services at the hotel. Whichever way you choose, getting around Cancun is part of the adventure!

Day 0: Welcome to Cancun!

After landing in Cancun, we quickly settled into our all-inclusive hotel. Then, we freshened up and eagerly stepped out. We strolled along the beach while the sun was setting. We had an early dinner at the hotel and later explored local shops and bars downtown.

Day 1: Beach Chill and Mesmerizing Cocobongo Night

On Day 1, escaping the winter chill of Canada and the US, we just kicked back at the beach pool. It was purely a chill day for us. We sunbathed, feeling the warm sun on our skin. Then, we lost ourselves in books, occasionally glancing up to admire the waves and dipping into the sea. As evening approached, we walked along the beach, captivated by a stunning sunset. After dinner, we went to the world’s most fabulous party at Cocobongo! You’ll love it, but you must buy a ticket in advance.

Day 2: Chichen Itza, Cenote, and Valladolid Exploration

On Day 2 of our 7 Days in Cancun adventure, we began with a tour of the impressive Chichen Itza, where we were awed by the ancient Mayan civilization’s grandeur. Afterward, we immersed ourselves in the crystal-clear waters of a sacred cenote, experiencing the exhilaration of swimming in this unique natural formation. Our day concluded with a delightful lunch and a walking tour of the beautiful colonial city of Valladolid, soaking in its rich history and culture. You can do a similar tour like this from here

Day 3: Isla Mujeres Exploration

On Day 3, at 10:00 AM, we eagerly boarded a ferry to Isla Mujeres. Once there, we rented a golf cart and joyfully circled the whole island at our own pace. We discovered breathtaking views at every turn and savored the tranquility of serene beaches. As the sun set, we relaxed on the sand, capturing the moment before returning to Cancun. Day 4: Las Coloradas & Rio Lagartos Tour with an Alternative Option

On Day 4, our hired driver picked us up early. We drove to the Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos, captivated by the surreal pink lakes and abundant wildlife. It was a perfect blend of natural wonders and animal sightings. Alternatively, suppose pink flamingos aren’t your thing, and you are more interested in a more historical and cultural angle. In that case, the Tulum and Coba Mayan Village tour offers an insightful exploration of ancient ruins and a traditional Mayan village.

Day 5: Xcaret Full Day

On Day 5 of our 7 Days in Cancun, we plunged into the wonders of Xcaret Park, a vibrant celebration of Mexican culture and nature. We started by exploring the underground rivers, swimming through their crystal-clear waters. Next, we marveled at the colorful wildlife, including tropical birds and butterflies. We also discovered Mexico’s rich history in the cultural exhibits. The day culminated with the spectacular Xcaret Mexico Espectacular show, a dazzling display of music and dance. I highly recommend this theme nature park!

Day 6: Relaxation & Shopping

On Day 6, we embraced relaxation. First, we chilled at the hotel, lounging by the pool and beach. Then, after lunch, we headed to La Isla Shopping Village. We strolled through myriad stores there, picking up souvenirs and fashion items. We also enjoyed dining in the quaint cafes, a perfect end to our last full day.

Day 7: Farewell to Cancun

On our final day, Day 7, we bid a heartfelt goodbye to Cancun. With our luggage packed, we took a moment to reflect on the unforgettable experiences and scenic beauties we’d encountered. As we departed for the airport, our hearts were full of gratitude for the memories made and the anticipation of one day returning.
