Here, we explored an ancient archaeological site, marveled at the pyramid complex, and learned about the Otomi people from an expert guide. After the tour, we ventured to the Santuario de Atotonilco by hiring a taxi to take us there and back. This UNESCO-listed gem, a mere 20 minutes from the city, is aptly dubbed the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” We admired its stunning frescoes, a testament to rich Mexican religious art

Day 9: Exploring the Historic District of Mexico City! 

On day 9 of our 12 days in Mexico itinerary, we began your self-guided walking tour at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City, soaking in its colonial magnificence. A short walk led us to the National Palace, home to Diego Rivera’s awe-inspiring murals depicting Mexico’s history. Next, we immersed ourselves in Aztec culture at the Templo Mayor Museum. Then, meandered to Plaza de Santo Domingo, a place echoing historical charm. Post-lunch, we admired the architectural splendor of the Esperanza Iris City Theater.

Our next stop, the Museo Nacional De Arte (MUNAL), showcases exquisite Mexican art. Then, we visited the visually stunning Postal Palace. Proceeded to the Palace of Fine Arts, where you’ll find more of Diego Rivera’s mesmerizing murals, a feast for the eyes. Ended our day at Mirador Torre Latino for an unforgettable sunset view. On day 10 of our 12 days in Mexico itinerary, we embarked on an exciting trip to the majestic Teotihuacan pyramids. First, we marveled at the imposing Pyramid of the Sun, climbing its steps for a panoramic view. Then, we strolled along the Avenue of the Dead, absorbing the site’s ancient aura. Next, we explored the equally impressive Pyramid of the Moon, uncovering its mysteries. This journey through time deeply connected us with Mexico’s rich pre-Columbian history, making for an unforgettable experience.

Day 11: Frida Kahlo’s House and Xochimilco River Boat

On Day 11, we set off early, eager for our cultural adventure. Our first stop: the charming Coyoacán. We hired an Uber, and our driver suggested visiting the historical center first. It was a delightful detour, filled with quaint streets and local life. We then made our way to Frida Kahlo’s House. Heads up – the lines can get long, so booking your tickets ahead is wise! We lined up for almost 2 hours! Goodness! Inside, we were enthralled by Frida’s personal world: her vivid paintings, the studio where she poured her soul onto canvas, and the colorful garden that reflects her vibrant spirit. After soaking in Frida’s legacy, we headed to Xochimilco. The afternoon was spent on a traditional “trajinera” boat, gliding through lively canals. We were surrounded by floating mariachi bands, bright decorations, and the joyful pulse of Mexico. It was the perfect blend of tranquility and festivity – a true highlight of our trip! On Day 12, we woke up early, packed our bags, and checked out of the hotel by 8 AM. We headed to the airport, ready for our flight back at 11 AM.
